CityXpress Announces PCI DSS Compliance
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - March 12, 2008 - CityXpress, a leading developer of revenue-generating marketplace products and programs for newspapers and the broadcast media, has announced compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Trustwave, a leading provider of information security and compliance management solutions for businesses and organizations throughout the world, performed the PCI DSS compliance validation.
PCI DSS is the payment card industry security requirement for entities that process, transmit or store cardholder data, and has been endorsed by all the major card brands – Visa Inc., MasterCard Worldwide, Discover Network, American Express and JCB. Under the PCI DSS, payment service provider compliance requirements are segmented into three levels based on the number of transactions processed and/or transmitted annually.
To validate compliance with the PCI DSS, CityXpress had to demonstrate compliance with 12 stringent security requirements of the credit card brands, submitting to a rigorous review of its information security policies, procedures and IT environment. To view Visa’s compliance validation for CityXpress, please visit www.visa.com/cisp and click on the list of compliant service providers found on the right hand side of the page.
"CityXpress has teamed up with global partners in 15 countries to place more than 650,000 products valued at more than half a billion dollars for sale through our platform," said Phil Dubois, president and CEO of CityXpress. "As we expand and capitalize on new business opportunities, PCI compliance was an important step to take in order to ensure the safety and reliability of our platform in the eyes of consumers and our more than 500 ecommerce partners."
“PCI DSS compliance is not only a sound business practice, but also a marketing differentiator indicating that vital business data is handled in a safe and secure manner by CityXpress,” says Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO of Trustwave. “By validating compliance with the PCI DSS, CityXpress has taken an important step in securing their information and their brand.”
