At the Ninth's premiere, a critic said Beethoven's "inexhaustible genius revealed a new world to us. "It continues to amaze with its celebration of humanity in the "Ode to Joy." Bernstein gave us his own life-affirming choral masterpiece with three psalms set to music for a festival at Chichester Cathedral.
