Directed by Dr. Cindy Melby Phaneuf.
April 13-16 and 20-23, 2016.
About the Play
A theatrical celebration for the 10th anniversary of the College of Communication, Fine
Arts and Media, the newly formed UNO School of the Arts and in commemoration of the
50th anniversary of the Shizuoka Omaha sister city relationship, we will be staging the
script, Kwaidan. Kwaidan incorporates components of 10 different Japanese folktales
and follows the journey of Lafcadio Hearn through these stories. Hearn was a famous
writer known for his Japanese legends and ghost stories. This piece will allow the
department to present a visually striking production that explores and honors the style of
Japanese folk tales.
