BERNSTEIN: Three Dance Variations from Fancy Free
POULENC: Sinfonietta
BEETHOVEN: Symphony No. 8
Three boisterous sailors on leave in wartime New York City inspire Bernstein's dance variations. Full of dance rhythms and phrases that resemble Tchaikovsky and Mozart, Poulenc's mini-symphony is a light and lyrical crowd-pleaser. The most light-hearted of Beethoven's symphonies, the Eighth plays endless musical jokes, ending with a mad-dash finale.
Seating is General Admission.
