Prokofiev: Suite from Romeo and Juliet
Tchaikovsky: The Tempest Fantasy-Overture
Walton: Henry V: A Shakespeare Scenario
God for Harry! England and Saint George! Walton's score brings to life the vasty fields of France, with arrows flying and armor clashing. To open the concert, we hear Prokofiev's ballet music for Shakespeares star-crossed lovers and Tchaikovsky's musical evocation of such stuff as dreams are made on.
PROGRAM 2: FRIDAY, JANUARY 27
Berlioz: Béatrice et Bénedict Overture
Mendelssohn: A Midsummer Nights Dream
The players of Nebraska Shakespeare stage selections from A Midsummer Nights Dream accompanied by Mendelssohns cherished score, including the enchanting overture and heralded Wedding March.
